Modi brings up meat exporter’s dirty links

Modi, while addressing a rally at Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, said, ‘The report claimed that the dealings were a big hawala racket, with the involvement of four central government ministers and a leader close to 10 Janpath. They are saying this was not only about meat export but there is a hawala racket.’

On 22 February 2014, Millennium Post broke the news of Qureshi’s closeness to the former CBI director and Congress leaders which created political ripples across the nation. Since then several television channels has done a follow up and even interviewed a senior official of the company. We reported that the British Revenue Intelligence Authority alerted the Indian Income Tax Authority that an Indian businessman (Qureshi) was transferring huge amount of money from Dubai to London.

On the basis of the alert, IT sleuths put Qureshi’s telephone under surveillance for about two months. Those surveillance tapes have enough material to put the entire political fraternity in an uncomfortable spot. IT authorities have already established that Qureshi, proprietor of meat export firm, AMQ Agro India, has disproportionate assets worth hundreds of crores of rupees. Last Tuesday, IT officials ended their first stage of probe and came to know that Qureshi had links with cabinet ministers and a political leader allegedly very close to 10 Janpath. Since its first raid on 16 February, 2014, the IT department has so far raided various locations at Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida and a farmhouse at Chhatarpur belonging to Qureshi. According to sources, the department seized over Rs 10 crores in cash and 20 lockers in the name of Qureshi’s employees during the first raid. Later during interrogation, Qureshi is said to have admitted that those lockers belonged to him.

In the 520 hours of call recordings, names of four cabinet ministers, a political leader allegedly very close to 10 Janpath and many big corporates linked to the 2G scam have surfaced, as per sources. Meanwhile, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad demanded an answer from the Congress party on their stand on Qureshi.
