Mob ransacks TL Jaiswal Hospital

A mob went on rampage ransacking a portion of TL Jaiswal Hospital in Howrah after the death of an 8-year-old boy.

The victim’s kin alleged that the patient had died due to the negligence of the hospital doctors. They damaged the furniture of the hospital triggering tension among the staff members and the patients as well. A huge contingent of police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

The victim Tuhin Majumdar, a resident of Liluah’s Chakpara area in Howrah was drowning in the pond. The local residents rescued the victim and rushed him to the TL Jaiswal Hospital. The victim’s family members claimed that after the patient was taken to the hospital, the doctors told the patient’s relative that the boy had died and asked the family members to take the body. 

The family members then took the victim to his residence when a local doctor said that the boy was alive and advised them to take him back to the hospital. The doctors again pronounced him brought dead the second time. The kin of the victim asked the doctors to examine him thoroughly but the doctors allegedly did not attend the patient as they claimed he was already dead.

The kin of the patient  claimed that he eventually died but he was alive when he was brought to the hospital for the second time. Police have detained 7 persons in this connection so far. Chief Medical Officer in the district sought a report from the hospital authorities.
