Mob goes on rampage as DTC bus hits 2 youth

After the incident, local residents informed the police who rushed to the spot and took the victims to Sushruta Trauma Centre where <g data-gr-id="28">Mazzam’s</g> condition is said to be critical. Police said <g data-gr-id="29">Mazzam</g> was not wearing <g data-gr-id="32">helmet</g>.             

Following the incident, locals gathered and attacked the bus, pelting stones where a policeman was injured. The situation escalated when the mob blocked the road, causing <g data-gr-id="30">heavy</g> traffic jam. According to senior police officers, it took them two hours to bring the situation under control.

The police have apprehended the accused driver and impounded the vehicle. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Brijendra Singh Yadav said, “The bus driver Anant, 26, has been arrested. A case has been registered under Section 279 (Rash driving) of the Indian Penal Code.” According to senior police officials, the locals even tried to set the bus on fire. 

A case has been registered at Sarai Rohilla police station under appropriate Sections of law. Later, another case was registered under Sections of rioting, assaulting public servant on duty and causing damage to public property. “We have arrested three people till afternoon and eight more have been identified, who will be arrested soon.” added Yadav.
