MMTC celebrates 50 years of being in business

MMTC Limited, India’s largest international trading company, stepped into the 50th glorious year of its existence on 1 October 2012. The company was incorporated fifty years ago in 1963 on this date, as one of the ‘temples of modern India’ to institutionalise the country’s mineral wealth. Initially envisaged as a trading company for minerals and metals, MMTC has successfully widened the scope of its activities in international trade, adding to its ambit new product groups like fertilizers, agro products, steel, diamonds, precious metals, non-ferrous metals, coal and hydrocarbons, etc.

The company has the unique record of uninterrupted profit and dividend payment since the last 43 years. The commencement of MMTC’s golden jubilee Year accompanies the launch of a special 50 year insignia for the company - a golden 50 etched with the company’s trademark logo on a gold medallion, and Celebrating 50 Golden Years inscribed around its edge.

The golden mnemonic signifies the company’s journey and transformation into India’s largest international trading company and single largest bullion importer and supplier in the subcontinent.

MMTC as a brand aims to strike a balance between tradition and modernity, and the golden jubilee logo representing a bridge between the golden legacy of the past and the golden dawn of the future. The colour gold itself signifies the goodwill and trust that the company has earned from its millions of customers for its precious metal products.

MMTC has been a constructive partner in the communities in which it has operated since its inception.
