Mix of youth and experience win Mercedes Trophy

21-year-old one handicap golfer Lakshya Mudgil, who scored a remarkable gross 2 under par 70 along with veteran golfer Ranjit Singh who scored a fine gross 78 and nett 70.8, booked their places in the national final on day one while on day two, Ratan Jindal and Ajai Joneja scored nett 70.4 and 72, respectively, to win their respective handicap categories at DLF Golf and Country Club, Gurgaon. The four winners from Gurgaon join the 36 other finalists who have qualified for the National Finals to be held at Oxford Golf and Country Club, Pune, on 25-27 March. The two-day competition at Gurgaon completes 5 days of qualifiers with 560 golfers participating in the Delhi NCR leg of the tournament.

Manish Rajput (79) on day one and Tarun Jain (78) on day two were declared the best gross winners. A total of 104 birdies (52 on both days) scored by the 240 odd participants is testimony to the competitiveness of the field at the final qualifying round of the 15th edition of Mercedes Trophy.
