Mitra requests CBI to allow him to go home for Durga Puja

The court had ordered Mitra to be present in the CBI’s office for a day in a week. Sources said that Mitra met some senior officers of the central investigation agency on Wednesday evening.

Mitra was arrested for his alleged involvement in the Saradha Group scam and he was given bail after two years of his arrest in this connection.

It is learnt that he told the officers that he wants to be with his family members during Durga Puja and to visit the Puja mandap in his locality. But it would not be possible for Mitra to go home until and unless he gets the court’s permission.

While giving him bail the court had ordered him to stay within the jurisdiction of Bhowanipore police station.

As a result, he had been staying in a hotel and his family members come to meet him there.
This is not the first time when Mitra has expressed that he wants to stay in his house and tried to give up the tag of “influential person”.

At the same time he had praised the development work undertaken by Mamata Banerjee government, but didn’t pass any comment on the future of his political career.

Meanwhile, Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday attached a house of the Saradha Group chief Sudipta Sen.

The attachment of the house at FD-456 in Salt Lake led to the attachment of Sen’s property worth Rs 9,000 crore.

It may be mentioned that ED had once again started collecting some more documents that they need for further investigation of Saradha Group scam.

It is learnt that the ED officers had a meeting with CBI officers recently.
