Mission ‘Nirbhik’: Police arrest indecent teacher

Under operation ‘Nirbhik’, an initiative by Delhi Police to create awareness among school-going children on social issues and remove the sense of fear of police, the Delhi Police on Monday arrested a school teacher who allegedly harassed school girls by touching them inappropriately in a government school situated at Dayal Pur area in North-east Delhi.

According the police the accused, Brajesh Kumar (45), who is a mathematics teacher posted at a government school, engaged in <g data-gr-id="27">indecent</g> behaviour. “We have started an initiative in our area to interact with the school children. Recently, while conducting this drive we got the complaint that the accused used to engage in indecent activities with some of the students. Soon after receiving this information we arrested the accused,” said DCP (North-east) Veenu Bansal.

There are around 40 schools in North-east Delhi which the police have identified and are conducting interaction sessions with the school children to educate them that police are with them and for them.
“We are conducting classes in several schools for the past few days. As of now, around 12 schools have been covered by our senior officials. We encourage children to share their problem with us.
They even share their family problems with us. With the help of this operation we are trying to convince them that they can trust Delhi Police,” said Yogendra Khokhar, SHO, Khajuri Khas police station.

According to the police, they have put complaint books in all the 40 schools in which school children can lodge their complaints. Meanwhile, police booked the accused teacher under the sections of the POCSO Act and under relevant sections of the IPC, said Bansal.
