Miscreants shoot trader to death in Hooghly’s Bandel

Bike-borne miscreants shot a trader to death in a broad daylight at Bandel in Hooghly.

The incident took place on Wednesday morning when Md Adil, a 42-year-old trader, was shot twice from a point black range. His aide was also injured in the firing.

Md Adil was standing in front of his truck when assailants shot him. He fell on the ground, as the miscreants decamped from the spot. But they threatened the other traders there in the area as well.

Police started investigation and the sniffer dogs were brought in the area. The dogs started to run towards the main road, but suddenly lost the trail.

“The reason of the murder is still unknown. We suspect that business rivalry may be the reason,” said a police officer.

The local traders called up an ambulance to rush the bullet-injured trader to reach the nearby hospital. The trader was admitted in the hospital in a critical condition where he was pronounced dead.Further police investigation revealed that Md Adil was a real estate developer. But recently he was involved in a tiff with some of his business rivals.

“The condition of the aide is critical. Doctors did not provide us permission to interrogate him. So we will wait till his discharge,” the police officer said.

Further investigation reveals Adil had a huge loan to repay to the some of his businessmen friends. But he was dodging them. “We have recovered a 9mm gun and a crude bomb from the place which was close to the spot of murder,” an investigating officer said.

It may be recalled that bike-borne miscreants had shot a trader to death in a broad daylight at Garapota-Kandipur in Bongaon, North 24 Parganas just a few days ago.

The incident took place on Monday morning when Bimal Das, a 42-year-old trader, was shot twice from point black range.

The murder of Das was almost similar with the incident at Bandel’s Kalabazar. Das was standing in front of his truck when assailants shot him.
