Miscreants shoot man to death in Bauria

Miscreants shot an employee of a private company to death on Saturday night at Bauria in Howrah. The incident triggered tension among the local residents.

Police said that the victim, Sheikh Rafiq was talking to his friends at a local shop situated close to his house at around 10 am. After returning home from office, the victim was chatting with his friends in the shop when some miscreants came on motor cycles and shot him from close range.

Local people alleged that one Parvez Ansari, a local miscreant had shot the victim dead. Before the victim’s friends could understand anything the accused fled the spot.

Rafiq’s younger brother alleged that an extra-marital relationship has led to the incident. Sheikh Raja, the victim’s brother said that Rafiq got involved in an illicit love relationship with the wife of the accused Ansari.

It was learnt that the woman also promised that she would marry Rafiq. This did not go down well with the accused and he hatched a plan of murdering Rafiq.

He also said that the accused had threatened the victim with dire consequences if he did not stop the relationship. As the victim turned down his proposal, the accused made up his mind to murder him.

After hearing the sound of the gun shot, the local people rushed to the spot and rescued the bullet riddled body of the victim.

They took him to a nearby hospital with bullet injuries on his body. After being informed, the senior police officers rushed to the spot and started an investigation.

Police are yet to ascertain the exact reason behind the attack. The investigating officers are also looking into the possible causes behind the crime.

After interrogating the local residents and the family members of the victim, the police came to know that the victim had engaged in quarrel with the accused for several times recently. 

Police are conducting raids at various places to nab the culprits. The investigating officers will also interrogate the victim after his condition improves.
