Miscreants rough up two Trinamool workers

The incident, which occurred at Bhangar in South 24 Parganas late Sunday night, triggered tension in the area. Before the incident took place, the two TMC activists were attending a meeting organised for chalking out plans on making preparations for an event on July 21.

After the meeting ended, the two victims were on their way home when some miscreants stopped them mid-way and hurled expletives on them.

When the victims raised their voice against the goons, the accused started beating them up. The victims fell to the ground. After hearing the victims’ screams, local people rushed to the spot and rescued them.

After receiving information of the incident, police reached the spot and started an investigation on the basis of the complaint lodged by the victims in the local police station. They are yet to arrest the accused. The miscreants reportedly wanted to teach the two a lesson because they had apparently managed to stop various anti-social activities in their locality.

The beating was apparently in retaliation for their actions. Police have started a detailed investigation into the incident.
