Miscreants pour beer on two girls in Howrah

Tension spread at Ramchandrapur area of Howrah after some miscreants poured beer on two college students who were returning home from private tuitions.

Police said that around 2 pm on Sunday, the victim girls, first year students from a local college in Howrah were returning home along Nivedita Sarani. Three accused youth were riding on a motorcycle along the road when they saw the girls walking on the narrow road. The accused stopped their motor cycle in front of the girls.

They were carrying bottles of beer. They teased the girls and later one of the accused poured beer on the girls. Both the victims somehow managed to free themselves and ran from the place. The two girls were so frightened that they could not narrate the incident immediately after the incident. When the local residents rushed to the spot after hearing the screaming of the two girls they found that the accused had already fled the spot.

The victim’s family members have lodged a complaint in the Nischinda police station on the basis of which the police have started an investigation. In the course of the investigation, police have identified one of the accused as Rakesh Biswas who is an employee of local medicine shop. Police are yet to ascertain the identity of his associates. 

Local people said that some youth tease the women in the locality quite often. But in Sunday’s incident they went one step further and poured beer on the college students. The accused youth are absconding since the incident had taken place. Police are conducting raids to nab the culprits.
