Miscreants attack church in New Panvel

Three unidentified men attacked the St George Catholic Church in New Panvel, Navi Mumbai in the wee hours of Saturday by hurling stones inside the church compound and damaging the glass enclosure of the statue of Saint George. The surprise attack, which lasted for just over a minute has shocked the Christian community, while their leaders have strongly condemned it by calling the incident a political mischief. An FIR has been lodged by the parishioners at Khandeshwar police station.Â
The CCTV footage found from the church premises show three men hurling stones at the church. During this attack, a statue of St George which is placed right outside the church enclosed in a glass box was damaged. An FIR was lodged at Khandeshwar police station against unknown people. The police has started probe in this case. Since the miscreants were masked, it is difficult for the police to identify those involved in this attack.
