Minor gang-rape: Prime accused has criminal past

The prime accused who had raped and later murdered a 12-year-old minor girl was also convicted in a dacoity incident in 2013 and he picked up driving after being released from the correctional home.
In the course of investigation police came to know that the Ola driver Guddu Singh, the prime accused in the incident was involved in various crimes in the city. He was earlier arrested by the city police in connection with a dacoity that had taken place at an area under Hastings police station in which he was convicted.

The investigating officers were conducting a probe to ascertain whether there was an involvement of any other persons in this incident. A forensic test of the car would be conducted. During the interrogation that accused told the police that he had boozed with one of his relatives on Tuesday night. Later the accused told his relative to take a stroll in the OLA cab but the latter had denied his proposal.

The accused then picked up his friend in the car and travelled through various parts in the city. They later abducted the victim from Brabourne road.

Police managed to arrest the two culprits by tracking the vehicle after going through the CCTV footage that had captured the registration number of the vehicle. According to the police, both the victims have confessed their crime during the interrogation.

The incident had prompted the state transport department to issue show-cause notice to the the luxury taxi provider Ola after the incident. Police said that the main accused Ola driver Guddu Singh and his associate Sankar Sahu had abducted the victim from pavement of Brabourne road on late Tuesday night. The two accused had repeatedly raped the minor girl inside the vehicle and they later smothered her and dumped her body in a canal near Ambedkar Setu in Topsia.
