Minor fire breaks out in former minister’s home

A minor fire broke out in one of the rooms of the former Minister of State for Home Affairs official residence situated on Kushak Road in the high-security zone of Lutyen’s Delhi on Tuesday afternoon.

Three fire tenders were rushed to former minister Jitendra Singh’s official residence. Police said that no casualties have been reported. The cause of the fire was a short circuit in the air-conditioning system which led to the flames which was doused within half an hour, said the fire department official. According to the fire department officials, they got a call around 2.30 pm on Tuesday afternoon that a minor fire had broken out at Jitendra Singh’s official room at his residence. According to a senior police official, few documents lying on the table and chair were gutted in flames.
