Looks like director Deepa Mehta and author Salman Rushdie can finally sit back relieved. For on Thursday, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), passed Mehta’s upcoming film Midnight’s Children without a single cut. Rushdie is the author of the Booker prize winner book.

‘India here we come — intact! Great news — ‘Midnight’s Children’ went through Indian censor board today without one pic cut. Salman Rushdie and I THRILLED,’ Mehta tweeted. To which Rushdie replied: ‘Fantastic!’ The film features Satya Bhabha, Shriya Saran, Siddharth, Anupam Kher, Shabana Azmi, Seema Biswas, Shahana Goswami, Rahul Bose, Soha Ali Khan and Darsheel Safary.

Shot mostly in Sri Lanka, the film revolves around the national emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi from June 1975 to March 1977.
