Police recovered the body of a middle-aged person on the side of the road of New Town on Friday morning. Police was later able to identify the deceased.

“The victim’s name is Manish Bhartia. We have learnt that the person was missing for some days. He wrote a letter to his family members saying he would not return home,” said an investigating officer.

Later, the investigating officers found that Bhartia had a huge debt in market. “We have started a case,” said the officer.

Meanwhile, in another case, Ramatha Das, a 35-year-old man was found hanging from a tree on
Thursday night in North 24 Parganas Titagarh.

The victim, an auto driver by profession, had an argument with his brothers and elder sisters a few days
ago over the possession of family property. Police arrested his two brothers and two sisters.

“We have started an investigation. Those accused will be interrogated. We are now collecting evidence of the murder,” a police officer said.
