Metro to have anti-disaster drill today

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority and the National Disaster Management Authority (will conduct a major drill to test their preparedness to tackle a disaster. They have decided to zero in on Delhi Metro for Saturday's drill. It will take place at all lines of the public transport system and will last an hour.

The drill will take place on 12 stations and is part of an earthquake preparedness exercise that was begun in December last year. Metro train operations would remain suspended during the drill period and entry into these 12 stations will be closed.

The divisional commissioner of the Delhi government Vijay Dev said, 'Earlier we used to have this mock drill on Sundays, but this time to make it as close to reality and to have a real time scenario we have planned on Saturday. Next time, we may even plan to have it on a weekday.'
