Mercury may go down in next 24 hours: MeT

The Regional Meteorological Department on Thursday predicted that temperature will further dip by 3 to 4 degrees in next 24 hours. The sky started clearing from Thursday after it had remained overcast on Wednesday.

There will be a cold spell in the city in next few days. The city residents have already started feeling it from Wednesday after the city witnessed light to moderate rainfall.

A senior official of the city Meteorological Department said once the chilly wind from the North started blowing across the East, the temperature will drop rapidly.

The city could not enjoy the winter due to a rise in the temperature in January. Snowfall in North India will ensure cold air and as a result the mercury will dip in the city. The excess moisture which was there in the air will disappear by Friday.
