Mercury dips, Delhiites experience foggy morning

The maximum temperature settled three degrees below normal at 19.3 degree Celsius even as 13.3 mm of rainfall was recorded in the city during the last 24 hours till 8:30 am. However, no rain was received after that till evening. Weatherman said the minimum temperature was recorded at 9 degree Celsius, one notch above normal. Earlier in the morning, several parts of the city were enveloped in a dense blanket of fog causing visibility to drop to low levels.

According to the Palam observatory, there was zero visibility due to fog till 8.30 am. “We have recorded zero visibility due to fog till 8.30 am,” a MeT official said. The Safdarjung observatory did not record any fog. Humidity levels oscillated between 61 was 91 per cent during the day. On Monday, the maximum temperature had settled seven notches below the season’s average at 16 degrees Celsius and the minimum was recorded at 11.8 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal. “There will be fog in the morning tomorrow (Wednesday) and maximum and minimum temperature is expected to settle at 20 and 8 degree Celsius respectively,” he added.
