Mentally-challenged woman who kidnapped child admitted to hospital

The police have got a 19-year-old mentally challenged girl, who had allegedly kidnapped a five-year-old boy from a Ramleela ground in the Moti Bagh area, admitted to a hospital.

On October 9, Nishant (5), who had visited  his relative's house in Moti Bagh, had gone to watch Ramleela with his aunt. While watching the Ramleela he fell asleep and the girl took him away. However, the child’s aunt witnessed the entire act and identified the girl as she lived near her residence.

The child’s aunt informed the police and a case of kidnapping was registered at the South Campus police station. The police found that the woman, along the child, had boarded a train to Jammu, from where he was rescued and she was brought here.

During the course of investigation, the police later found that the woman was undergoing treatment at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences in East Delhi. They suspect that she might have fled from the institute during treatment. She has been admitted to another hospital. Police will seek legal opinion on this case.
