Med student held for impersonation

A person was caught red-handed while impersonating an MBBS aspirant in the Mains Examination for All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT)  on Sunday in New Delhi.

According to a police officer, the arrestee, identified as Shiv Raj, was caught red-handed in the examination hall at a private school in Barakhamba Road.

Shiv Raj himself  is a final year student of MBBS, in Sawai Man Singh Medical College in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

‘The accused was caught  appearing in the examination on behalf of original candidate Vijay Kumar Shakya. We were informed about the matter and a police team reached the school and took him into custody,’ the officer said.

During interrogation, Shiv Raj told police that he was lured by his seniors, who had offered him around Rs 2 lakh for appearing in the examination, the officer said.

A case under Sections 419 (punishment for cheating by impersonation), 420 (cheating) and 451 (house-trespass in order to commit offence) was registered.
