MCDs launch plantation drive to strengthen Capital’s lungs

The three Municipal Corporations of Delhi (MCDs) on Sunday jointly initiated a plantation drive. Delhi BJP president Sathish Upadhyay, three mayors, chairmen of the standing committees of the MCD’s and commissioners participated in the drive. Shyam Sharma, SDMC mayor, said the drive would strengthen the lungs of Delhi and help environment. North MCD mayor Dr Sanjeev Nayyar said the plantation drive is memorable for every child, who has participated in it. EDMC mayor Satya Sharma said trees were axed in large numbers to make way for new colonies and settlements in Delhi.
