MCDs, DJB to keep open their offices on Sunday and accept demonitised notes

Delhi Jal Board and MCDs have announced to open their offices on Sunday to accept higher currency notes from people in payment of property tax and water bills. These bills can be submitted in all the zonal offices of MCDs and DJB.

The property tax offices of all the three Municipal Corporations — SDMC, EDMC and North MCD — will remain open till midnight of November 14 to receive property tax even in the form of old currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000, said a senior Municipal Corporation officer. The offices will also be open on Sunday and Monday. Also, there is no limit for cash deposit which was earlier Rs 5,000, he said.

Delhi Jal Board zonal revenue offices will remain open on November 13-14 till 5 pm for consumers to pay their pending bills, said a senior DJB official. The old currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 will be accepted for bill payment to facilitate the consumers, he added.

“We have been opening our zonal offices for the citizens to deposit various fees on weekend and leave days as special drives so that there is no problem. No special arrangement in required as all the arrangements are in place,” said a senior officer of South MCD.

The civic bodies, as a special drive to collect property tax and various bills, have been opening their zonal offices on weekends. However, all the zonal offices of MCDs and DJB are connecting with i-banking facilities but such drives were launched earlier to facilitate bill deposit by those who prefer to deposit on the counter or don’t have internet facility.

DJB has also a facility to deposit bills through mobiles and the scheme is much popular among citizens.
