MCD teacher robbed, stabbed in East Delhi

A 39-year-old school teacher of a primary MCD school was stabbed and robbed near Sanjay Jheel in East Delhi’s Pandav Nagar on Thursday afternoon. The victim, identified as Anil Patel has been working as a teacher at the aforementioned school since 2005.

Anurag, the brother-in-law of the victim said, “On Thursday around 1.30pm, he was coming back from the school on his bike. On the way between Kotla and Shashi Garden, near Sanjay Jheel he went to relieve himself after parking his bike on one side. While he was going towards the toilet, five juveniles arrived and tried to snatch his cell phone. And when he resisted, one of them stabbed him with a knife.”

“Patel fell unconscious and the goons fled from the spot with his cell phone and a thousand bucks. Later, the security guard of the Sanjay Jheel Park found him lying there, unconscious. He raised an alarm and gathered people, who tied a cloth around his wound. After ten minutes, Patel gained consciousness and called his brother,” his brother-in-law added.

A passer-by made a PCR call and the police rushed to the spot. He was admitted in the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, where he had to wait for two hours before being allowed inside the operating theater.  Till then they had only given him first aid and was made to wait till 5.30pm. He was finally shifted in at 6 pm.

The doctors treating Patel said that he has been shifted to the ICU after a surgery was performed on his intestines and will be kept under observation. They further added that his condition was stable.
The motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained while the police have started the investigation.
