MCD staffer’s body found on railway track

A 43-year-old MCD staffer, Banwari Lal, met with an accident at South-east Delhi’s Sarita Vihar railway crossing on Tuesday afternoon and later succumbed to injuries. However, family members of the victim allege that he committed suicide as he was reeling under depression.

According to a senior railway official, the railway station police were informed around 2 pm that a man was lying on the railway tracks. The police rushed the man to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. The victim lived in the <g data-gr-id="17">J J</g> colony of Madanpur Khadar. He is survived by two sons. The body has been sent for post-mortem. A case has been registered under Section 174 (Police to inquire and report on suicide,) of the CrPC at the Sarita Vihar railway police station.
