MCD primary school students to get admission slip from Delhi govt schools

In a relief to thousands of parents, the principals and teachers of the Delhi government schools will visit MCD-run primary schools and handover admission slips of those children for admission in Class VI at their schools between April 1-15 next year.

Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday directed the officials to send principals and teachers of Delhi government schools to MCD run schools, between March 15- April 1, 2017, and hand over admission slips of Class VI to the children studying in class V in current academic session, said a senior Delhi government official.

“With this decision, government has done away with the prevalent practice wherein children passing class V from MCD feeder schools had to approach link schools for admission in class VI and their parents had to run from pillar to post for getting the admission procedure completed,” said the official.

Now, the entire admission process will be made online after taking data from the MCDs and admission slips will be made available to children, he said. The decision was taken during a meeting of Sisodia with officials of Directorate of Education and commissioners of the three MCDs. It was also decided in the meeting that on a particular day, between April 1-15, the children and teachers of MCDs schools will be invited to government schools for a party.

Sisodia also asked the education officials of MCDs to organise summer camps in their schools during summer vacations and promote reading abilities of children.
