Mayors, chairmen of MCDs protest outside Assembly

Demanding immediate implementation of the 4th Delhi Finance Commission report, Mayors and Standing Committee Chairmen of all the three Municipal Corporations of Delhi (MCDs) along with BJP Councillors staged a protest at Delhi Legislative Assembly on Friday.

On the occasion, the three Mayors said that state finance commission is constituted to review this services rendered and the financial condition of Corporations and accordingly deciding the share of local bodies.

They said that the Finance Commission gives the recommendations regarding the taxes to be collected by the Delhi government, their share in the net revenue and grants to be given to the Corporations etc. But as per the recommendations, the Delhi government must give the Corporations their due share but till date the Delhi government has not released fund to the tune of nearly Rs 2,000 crore to the corporations.

They said that the second main reason for the dharna is non-releasing of pension to senior citizens/widows by the Delhi government. Although, as per Delhi high court directions, Corporations have sent all the details of pensioners to the Delhi government.
