Mayawati promises quota for Muslims, upper caste poor

BSP supremo Mayawati has promised to give reservation to Muslims and upper caste poor if her party comes to power at the Centre .

Addressing a Brahmin mahasammelan at the Ramabai Ambedkar ground here, Mayawati sought the support of upper caste, Muslims and other backward communities along with dalits to fulfill her party’s agenda of sarv samaj.

‘I can assure you that my party will implement reservation for Muslims and upper caste poor if the BSP becomes a balancing power at the Centre by winning majority of seats in the Lok Sabha elections,’ she said during her over one-hour long speech.

Appealing to the upper castes and other communities to support the BSP in the Lok  Sabha elections, she said:  ‘The BSP will do in five years what the Congress, the BJP and other parties at the Centre could not do since Independence.’ Mayawati asked the people to be aware of the conspiracy hatched by the opposition parties to confuse them. ‘In the 2012 assembly elections, the opposition parties spread lies against the BSP and they will do the same in the next Lok Sabha elections,’ she said and added: ‘I think people will not repeat what they did in 2012 assembly elections and this time they will unitedly support the BSP.’

Charging the Congress and the BJP for derailing reservation in Promotion Bill in Parliament, the former UP chief minister said her party will fight till the end to implement the bill as it was the only way out to end the disparity in government jobs.
Mayawati was very critical of the state of affairs in UP and said her party has already demanded imposition of President’s rule in the state.  ‘All development work have come to standstill while the goons and mafias are ruling the roost in the state in the present regime,’ she said.
Charging the Samajwadi Party government for implicating senior BSP leaders in corruption charges, Mayawati said as the present government could not do anything for the people hence they are trying to frame the BSP leaders.
She also lashed out at Gujarat CM Narendra Modi for claiming that he rescued 15,000 Gujaratis in Uttarakhand and said how can a person with such narrow approach hope to become prime minister. Saying the Centre should declare Uttarakhand a ‘national calamity’, she said no politics should be done over the relief and rescue work.
