Mayawati loses UP, BSP draws zero
BJP workers celebrated Holi and Diwali at the party office here putting colours on each other and bursting crackers to celebrate the unprecedented victory of the party in the Lok Sabha elections, especially in Uttar Pradesh.
It was ‘dhols’ and crackers all the way at the BJP office in front of the imposing UP Assembly building as workers danced carrying banners announcing ‘achchey din aa gaye (good days have come)’ and election symbol ‘Lotus’ and fed ‘laddoos’ to each other.
The party had set up large LCD TV sets in the office campus for its leaders and cadres to witness the results live.
Though the state government had banned victory processions in the state today, groups of party workers were moving about on vehicles in the state capital shouting slogans hailing the victory.
On the other hand, party offices of political rivals including Samajwadi Party, BSP and Congress, wore a deserted look barring a flow of mediapersons and OB vans.
If there were a handful of security personnel sitting in and around the closed gates of Samajwadi Party office, there were merely a couple of regulars at the kiosks of the UPCC office whereas BSP office, and the residence of its president Mayawati nearby, had a forlorn look to it, depicting the gloom which appear to have descended there as results flowed in.
