Mauritius high commissioner urges better ties with India

Mauritius offers tremendous business and investment opportunities in thrust areas such as Tourism, Gems & Jewellery, Information Technology [IT], Financial Services and Light engineering, said Arye Kumar Jagessur, high commissioner of Mauritius at a meeting with the All India Association of Industries [AIAI] in Mumbai recently.            Â
 Jagessur said Mauritius, with its double taxation treaty with 32 countries, was useful as a hub for exports to the African countries. Doing business through Mauritius was more beneficial for countries like India as it - Mauritius – enjoyed a special treaty with the African continent, he said, adding that Mauritius offers various trade opportunities for an inclusive economic growth and India and Mauritius could partner to promote better trade ties specially in manufacturing and service sectors.
