Massive fire in crackers factory

A massive fire broke out at fire cracker factory at Sonarpur in South 24-Parganas triggering panic in the area.

Three fire tenders were pressed into action to douse the flame and they brought the situation under control after an effort of nearly three hours. The factory was completely gutted in the fire. However, there was no report of any injury in the incident. Local people heard the sound of bursting of fire crackers and found smoke billowing out of the factory. Police and fire brigade department are yet to ascertain the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage. Police said that the fire cracker factory situated at Gobindapur village under Sonarpur police station had caught fire at around 11.45 am on Tuesday.

The local people tried to douse the flames but failed as there were fire crackers stored in the factory which had started exploding one by one.
