Maoists kill village guard in Kalahandi

Chemu Harijan, a resident of Katlang, was allegedly killed by the ultras who slit his throat, Kalahandi SP Brijesh Ray said.

The bike of Harijan, gutted in <g data-gr-id="18">fire</g>, was also recovered from nearby.

The Maoists suspected that the information of Harijan had helped the police track the whereabouts of one Sangita, a woman cadre of the outfit on October 15, police said quoting Harijan's wife's version.

Harijan's wife told the cops that <g data-gr-id="19">Maoists therefore</g> killed him under suspicion of him being a police informer and took away his 'Aadhaar' card, ration card, voter card and bank pass book.

Harijan was among the six persons kidnapped from three villages by the ultras earlier.

While five others were released yesterday, Harijan's body was found lying near a bridge at his village today.
