Manas Bhunia’s name no more in Sabang case charge-sheet

Names of Dr Manas Bhunia, his brother Bikash Bhunia and sabhapati of panchayat samity Amal Panda were no more in the charge-sheet that the police filed before the Midnapore Court in connection with the murder of Trinamool Congress leader Joydeb Jana.

Jana was killed in his village at Sabang ahead of the Assembly elections. Complaint was lodged against 23 persons.

Police didn’t find three of them to be involved and their names were not in the charge-sheet.

Dr Bhunia joined Trinamool Congress in September. His brother and Panda had also joined the party.

The police had filed the charge-sheet on December 1.

On Tuesday, the Court wanted to know from the complainant of the case Joydeb Metia whether he has any problem since three of their names are not in the charge sheet. Metia submitted before the Court that he has no problem with it.
