Man suffers 30% burns in acid attack

A physically challenged man suffered from severe burn injuries when two unidentified persons threw acid on him at North-east Delhi’s New Usmanpur area on Tuesday.

The victim, identified as Firoz Khan, is a resident of Seelampur area who had come to the market at Usmanpur when the incident took place. He was rushed to a hospital and admitted with 30 per cent burn injuries, said a police official.

According to the police, Khan was sitting on his tricycle near a cobbler’s shop when two unidentified persons, with their face covered in black clothes, came from behind and threw acid on him.

The police registered a case under Section 326A (punishment for acid throwing) of the IPC, the official added.
