Man nabbed with gold worth 38L

The air intelligence unit of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport at Kolkata arrested a person on the charge of carrying gold bars worth Rs 38 lakh. According to an airport source, the man came from the Dubai on Thursday night, but was caught red handed by the security personnel at green channel. The security personnel doubted his movements as the gold bars were recovered from his pocket. 

The accused was carrying gold bars weighing around 1.38 kg. “This person is playing a middleman to the whole racket. There may have been a big racket playing behind this. This man, residents of Navi Mumbai, would deposit those gold bars to some agent in Kolkata. An investigation is going on,” an officer said. However, a man with 1,300 costly cell phones was arrested on Thursday night. Police said, he was carrying those phones to a shop in Kolkata. “The man took those phones from Bhutan and intended to sell them in Kolkata. But he was booked by the police. “We conducted regular raids in airport to nab the accused who carry the goods without any permission. Those illegal goods were seized and those persons were taken to the Barrackpore court regularly,” a security officer added.
