Man kidnaps 10-month-old girl, rapes and dumps her; arrested

Yet another incident, where a toddler was raped in the national Capital and is battling for her life in city hospital, took place in the national Capital. A 36-year-old man had kidnapped a 10-month-old girl, raped her and when she felt unconscious he had thrown her in some bushes and fled away. However, later he was arrested.

The incident took place on late Friday night when the toddler was sleeping with her parents in a room at a construction site in West Delhi’s Vikaspuri area. Her parents are working at the construction site as labourers. Seeing all of them asleep, the accused identified as Vijay, who is also a labour and a neighbour of the family, kidnapped the child.

“Vijay took the toddler to an isolated place and raped her. During the act she felt unconscious, but the accused thought she had died. Out of fear, he had thrown her in some bushes and fled away from the spot. After the incident, he went back to his place and slept,” a police officer privy to investigation said.

At around 12.30 am, her family found that their daughter is missing after which they made a call to the police control room. A man-hunt was started and the girl was recovered from the bushes. She was profusely bleeding and was immediately rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital where she also underwent operation.

During investigation, a mobile phone was found lying near the spot where the girl was recovered. Based on the mobile phone, the accused was identified as Vijay and he was arrested. A case under the Section 363, 376 of the Indian Penal Code and POCSO Act has been registered.

Meanwhile, Swati Maliwal, chief of Delhi Commission for Women visited the hospital and met the victim along with her parents.
