Man jumps before speeding Metro, dies

A man in his fifties allegedly committed suicide by jumping before an approaching Metro train in North Delhi’s Civil Lines Metro station on Friday.

Senior police officers said the deceased was yet to be identified and his body was shifted to the Subzi Mandi mortuary. The police have recovered no suicide note from the possession of the deceased.

The police said the incident took place around 1pm at Platform No. 1 when the man jumped beafore the approaching train, which was headed towards Huda City Centre.

“We rushed to the platform and found that the man was beheaded by the running Metro teain,” said Jitender Mani, DCP (Metro).

As of now, the police have ruled out it to be an accident case as it is clearly visible in the CCTV footage that the man jumped before the approaching Metro train and was not pushed. The police are trying to identify the victim, after which they will contact his family and friends and probe what made him take to the extreme step.
