Man inspired by Bollywood character held for robbery

A man, who claimed that he was inspired by a Bollywood movie character of an underworld don, has been arrested for allegedly committing robberies, snatching and vehicle theft here, police said on Sunday.

“Aman alias Bittu (20) fell in bad company after his parents divorced. He was inspired by the character of an underworld don played by John Abraham in the movie ‘Shootout at Wadala’. He even went to Mumbai to meet the actor,” Manoj CJ, Additional DCP (South-West) said.

He said Bittu was a brilliant student. But after his parents divorced, he dropped out after Class 12 and fell in bad company. He started taking drugs and committing petty crimes like theft, the officer said.

After serving a jail term of six months he was released in March and formed his gang that committed a series of crimes in South-West Delhi, he said. Aman was arrested along with Abdul Khan, a receiver of the goods stolen by him, from the parking area of Sector 24 Metro station in Dwarka on Saturday, police said.
