Man held with heroin worth Rs 35 lakh

With the arrest of a 33-year-old man from East Delhi’s Geeta Colony area, the police claimed to have recovered heroin worth around Rs 35 lakh in the international market, police said on Friday.

The Crime Branch of Delhi Police also claimed that the accused is a member of a Bareilly-based heroin racket and procured drugs from one Chhotey Khan, whose name had emerged earlier after the arrest of several heroin peddlers in Delhi. “On July 29, a Crime Branch team set a trap based on a tip off and arrested one Rajeev Gupta from Geeta Colony. He had come there to deliver a heroin consignment of around 170 grams. The value of the consignment was estimated at around Rs 35 lakh in the international market,” said Ravindra Yadav, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime).
