Man held for threatening mother at gunpoint

Police arrested a middle-aged man on charges of threatening his mother at gun point to register all her property in his name.

The incident took place at Baguiati on Thursday and the accused was arrested late on Thursday night.
Police said that the accused Debashis Sarkar went to the house where his mother Sikha Sarkar stays alone and asked her to put signature on a document.

His mother refused to give her signature without consulting others. He tried to convince her mother, but she continued refusing and it led to an altercation.

Debashis finally took out his revolver and threatened his mother to put her signatures on the document.

Before he had managed to get his mother’s signature on the documents, his sister and brother-in-law reached the place.

The accused started beating the couple realising that they would hand him over to the police.

Investigation revealed that the trouble between the accused and his mother had been going on for quite a few months.

As a result, Debashis’ mother left his home and started staying separately in another house.

The police arrested him late Thursday night based on the complaint lodged with Baguiati police station by his mother.
