Man held for rape attempt on specially-abled girl

The other accused who were in the car, fled the spot which the police had intercepted after spotting the girl lying on the seat. Police are conducting raids to nab the other culprits.

Police said that the four accused, Raj Ansari who has already been arrested and his three associates dragged the girl into a Tata Sumo at Pilkhana Road on Friday night. The accused took the girl to an area close to Nature’s Park and allegedly attempted to rape her.

In a desperate attempt to free herself from the clutches of the accused, the victim started beating her hands against the window of the car. This caught the attention of some local people who rushed to the spot to rescue her.

After seeing the local people chasing down the car, the other three accused managed to flee the spot while the local residents nabbed Ansari and informed the Garden Reach police station. After being informed, police reached the spot when the local residents handed Ansari to them. During the interrogation, Ansari admitted his crime and gave a detailed account on how the four members dragged her into the car from a desolate area of Pilkhana road.

Police came to know that the victim is a resident of Pilkana road area and was strolling in the area when the accused pounced on her. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment as she was under mental trauma after the incident. In the investigation, police came to know that the other three accused were Md Sayem, Md Sufia, and Tayab.
