Man held for outraging modesty of Gujarat woman

Delhi Police arrested a 35-year-old man, who claimed to be an IAS officer and a RAW agent, on charges of outraging the modesty of a Gujarat-based woman.

According to the police, the accused arrested has been identified as Abhishek H Madhu.

Police said that they received a written complaint from a woman at the Hazrat Nizamuddin police station stating that one Abhishek Madhu claiming himself to be an IAS officer and RAW agent used to frequently visit her office. During his visits, he became friendly with her and started calling her on phone on some or the other pretext. Subsequently, he resorted to using filthy language to which she objected after which he threatened her to inform her husband about their telephonic conversations. She further alleged that around four months back, he met her at Connaught Place where he outraged her modesty. Besides, he has also been sending obscene messages to her on WhatsApp and Facebook.

According to a senior police officer, a team was formed to probe the matter. Technical surveillance was mounted and the call records were analysed. After painstaking efforts, the location of the alleged accused was traced and a trap was immediately laid.

Police said that Abhishek was arrested from New Delhi railway station where he had gone to board the train to flee from the city. The accused claims that he belongs to a high profile family and claims to have done MBA from IIM Ahmadabad. He also claims to have worked as the MD with a Dubai-based company. His claims are being verified.
