Man held for molesting teenage sister-in-law

The North District Delhi police arrested a man on Friday, on charges of molesting his teenage sister-in-law and clicking objectionable photos of the girl after sedating her. The man’s brothers have also been accused in the case.

Police said the victim approached the Kotwali police station with her complaint after the accused sent the objectionable pictures to her elder brother. The accused wedded the victim’s sister in December 2011.

‘We have arrested the accused person, identified as Shiv Kumar, and are looking for his brothers, Uma Shankar and Ram Shankar who are still on run,’ said a senior police official.

The incident occurred when the victim, a resident of Uttarakhand, was visiting Shiv Kumar and her sister at their residence in Chandni Chowk in December 2013.

‘The victim had come to attend a birthday party of her elder sister’s son. It was their son’s first birthday party. The victim’s complaint alleges that the next day, Shiv Kumar offered her a cold drink which was apparently laced with sedatives,’ the officer added.

According to the police, when the victim lost consciousness, Shiv Kumar and his brothers took turns to molest her. When she woke up, Kumar showed her the pictures he had taken and threatened to make them public if she disclosed the matter to anyone. She also alleged that Kumar had also threatened to kill her elder sister and their son if she dared to approach the police.

The victim, however, broke her silence after Kumar sent the pictures to her brother. The victim’s brother also accompanied her to the police station to lodge the complaint.
