Man held for killing kin

A 34-year-old man has been arrested from Subhash Place for killing his sister and brother-in-law over a property dispute. On investigation, the police came to know that two contract killers were allegedly hired to kill them on 30 October. One of the contract killers has also been arrested.

‘On the night of October 30, a PCR call was received by the Subhash Place police station about a murder in WZ-584, Gali No. 1, Sri Nagar. When we reached the spot, we found blood everywhere,’ said a police official.

The husband and wife, Sat Pal Garg and Ramkali Garg, were lying in the pool of blood and were taken to the hospital immediately. But both were declared brought dead by the hospital.

According to the police officials, both the deceased were strangulated and a sum of about Rs 2.5 lakh, some documents and jewellery were found missing from the house.

‘The deceased Satpal Garg had a tiff in the recent past with his brother-in-law Pawan Jindal over property,’ said a police official.

When Pawan was interrogated initially, he said he was in Narwana when the crime was committed. ‘The role of two others, Chandveer and Vikram Dalal, came to light soon. By then they had absconded. On further investigation, the police had identified another possible suspect, who was traced through Vikram’s activities a few days before the incident.

The suspect was identified as Sandeep Kumar, who, on sustained interrogation, broke down and disclosed that he alongwith Vikram Dalal and Chandveer had murdered Sat Pal and Ramkali and ransacked the house.

‘Apparently they committed the crime as per the instructions of Pawan, who hired them for Rs 1 lakh,’ said a police official.

‘Pawan was apprehended and when he was confronted with Sandeep Kumar, he admitted to his role and disclosed that he had come to Delhi almost 16 years ago and lived at the property of deceased Satpal Garg at Aman Vihar. Pawan had then indulged in small scale businesses, including property dealing.

‘In July 2012, he was asked to vacate by the deceased. Pawan became revengeful and conspired with Chandveer to eleminate his own brother-in-law and grab his property,’ he added. ‘We are investigating further and are also searching for the co-accused,’ said P Karunakaran, Deputy Commissioner of Police, north–west district.
