Man hangs himself after killing wife and daughter

A 38-year-old businessman committed suicide after killing his wife and 6-year-old daughter after failing to clear a huge amount of debt. The incident took place at Tulsitala near Raigunj in North Dinajpur.

Police said Biswajit Pal had incurred a huge loss in his business. But he had tried to rectify the situation and in a bid to do so he had take a huge amount of loan against high rate of interest. But for some reason he failed to repay it.

On Thursday morning, his mother found that no one among the three persons came out of their bed room till 9 am. It aroused her suspicion and she started knocking on the door. Despite knocking repeatedly, none of them responded. So she sought help of some local people and police was called.

The police broke open the door to find that Biswajit was hanging from the ceiling of the room while his wife Soma and daughter Sutispa were lying on the bed with their hands and legs tied up. The police sent the bodies to post-mortem. But after preliminary investigation, police suspect that Biswajit had spiked the food of his wife and daughter on Wednesday night.

They fell unconscious after having the food and he strangulated them after tying their hands and legs when they fell senseless. He strangulated them after smothering them with pillows. It is quite clear that he had first killed his wife and then his daughter.

No one had got any noise of any of them shouting for help as they fell senseless after having the spiked food. Police came to know after speaking to some of the friends of the victim that they had noticed some abnormalities in his behaviour in the past few days. He used to speak less with them.

His mother had also told one of his friends that Biswajit was passing through a bad phase of his life as he had turned jobless after incurring a heavy loss twice in the span of a year. He had never sought help from any of his friends.

He used to remain silent most of the time in the house and hardly used to share his problems with the members of his family. Biswajit had been planning of committing the crime as he had kept pieces of clothes ready in his room and had also collected the chemical that he had spiked in the food of his 

wife and daughter with. But he had not allowed any one to suspect him. A pall of gloom descended in the area with the death of the three members of the same family.
