Man gets 10 yrs in jail for circulating fake currency

A court has handed ten years of rigorous imprisonment to a man for possessing and circulating fake Indian currency notes, a CBI spokesperson said on Tuesday. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 11 lakh on convict Imran Abdulla Syed.

Syed was arrested with fake currency having a face value of Rs 11.21 lakh at the IGI airport here, the CBI spokesperson said.

‘The seized FICNs were allegedly claimed to be received from a Pakistani national. After completion of the probe, CBI filed a charge sheet on December 21, 2010 against accused Imran Abdulla Syed and other accused, a Pakistani national,’ the CBI spokesperson said.
