Man dies of electrocution

A director of a water proofing company died due to electrocution in Noida on Friday morning when he went to inspect leakage in the swimming constructed on the second floor of company in Sector 10.

Neeraj Garg, 45, director, with a waterproofing company was summoned by his client Archom Company, a design and architectural firm, to repair the leakage in the swimming pool. Garg reached the spot at around 11.15 am and he came in contact with water. ‘He began writhing in pain and remained like that for 10 minutes. Nobody could help him due to wet surface,’ said Rita Yadav, inspector of Sector 20 police station. ‘The victim was rushed to Kailash Hospital in Sector 27, but was declared brought dead,’ added Yadav.

‘We are yet to ascertain the exact reason for the electricity running through the water. While people wanted to help him, they were afraid that they would get shocked too. When the convulsions stopped, he was rushed to hospital,’. she added.

The police is yet to make contact with the senior management at the architectural company.

‘We have detained a few people for questionaing but formal arrest will be made only after confirmation of electrocution in the post-mortem report and certifying the permission of the Noida for construction of swimming pool,’ said Praveen Kumar, senior superintendent of police, Gautam Buddha Nagar district.

Thus far, while a case under appropriate sections has been filed at the Sector 20 police station.

‘We are yet to speak to the senior management, and once we do, we will fix accountability. Further, it will also shed light on what caused the electric shock. Further investigations are under way,’ added Praveen.
