Man dies mysteriously after drinking tea at in-laws’ house

Mystery shrouds the death of a man who died after drinking tea in his in-law’s house at Survey Park on Saturday night. The matter came to light and police received the body to send it for an autopsy following trouble caused by the victim Sureh Naiya’s family members outside his in-law’s house.

The incident led to tension in the area as the victim’s relatives had tried to beat up the accused and ransacked their house. Preliminary investigation revealed that Suresh was a resident of Kalipota in East Jadavpur. He went to his in-law’s house near Santoshpur Jora Bridge area at Survey Park last night at around 9 p.m.

His wife was also in his in-law’s house. He had taken tea after reaching there. But he didn’t return home on Saturday night. Thus, one of his friends came to his in-law’s house on Sunday morning and came to know that he had died after taking tea.

The victim’s friends passed the information to his family members and other local people over phone. Within an hour, more than 100 people reached the victim’s in-law’s house and attempted to ransack the house. But police reached the spot at right time and stopped the mob from damaging the house or beating up the accused. The police arrested the victim’s wife, father-in-law and mother-in-law.

Suresh’s family members alleged that his in-laws had strangulated him to death and now claiming that he died after taking tea just to save themselves. They lodged a complaint with the police alleging that Suresh was murdered.

They raised question that why they had not informed them if he had a natural death? “They had a plan to dump the body to somewhere. Thus they didn’t tell anyone about the incident,” said a relative of the victim.
