Man dead, friend critical after scooter rams into divider

A 27-year-old man died while a 23-year old man suffered severe injuries when their scooter rammed into a divider near India Gate on Tuesday night. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Mohd Imran while the injured is Gulfam. Police said that Gulfam is in a critical condition.

The incident took place at around 11 pm when Mohd Imran and Gulfam, both residents of Hauz Qazi, Chandni Chowk, were going from Connaught Place to Nizamuddin Railway Station. They were planning to eat something. However, on the way, the duo was knocked down after they met with an accident.

Police said that while Imran’s head was severely injured and he bled to death, Gulfam was struggling to move. A local made a PCR call after which the duo was rushed to the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital by police where Imran was declared brought dead.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC at the Parliament Street police station.  Police further said that they are yet to establish whether the duo’s scooter hit the divider or was hit by some other vehicle. Further investigation is still on.
