Man behind toddler’s sexual assault, murder arrested

The Delhi Police have solved the brutal murder case of a four-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted and killed by the attacker on November 20. The Delhi Police arrested the 24-year-old accused from Bawana.

The Delhi Police have nabbed the accused Amarjeet (24) who turns out to be the neighbour of the victim. The girl was reportedly playing in front of her house on the evening of November 20 when she went missing. Her body was recovered at 6 am the next morning.

One of the relative spotted the body of the girl the next day in an isolated unused building near the railway tracks near Lawrence Road. The girl resided in the nearby slums. When her body was recovered it had bruises all over her body indicating sexual assault.

“We have already identified the accused and our teams were looking for him. We arrested him from Bawana. He is a tempo driver. We have booked him under Sections 363, 302 of the IPC and sections of POCSO,” said a senior police officer.

The horrific incident raised the issue of vulnerability of children in the national Capital. The DCW chief Swati Maliwal too visited the victim’s family and tweeted about the incident.

Days after the Keshavpuram incident, a girl child was sexually assaulted in Delhi’s Sarai Rohilla where the toddler was left to die in a pit near the railway tracks by the attacker. However, the girl miraculously survived. The accused was nabbed within 24 hours by the Delhi Police.
